A wrong-way driver collided with a marked Arizona Department of Public Safety patrol vehicle Sunday night, officials say.
The driver was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Cortaro Road, according to department spokesman Trooper Kameron Lee. The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m.
The driver and a DPS trooper were both taken to a hospital, but details of injuries are currently unknown.
The crash closed westbound I-10 at Cortaro for several hours, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The area has since reopened.
The investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released.
