A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car on Saturday night, officials say.

Shortly before 8 p.m., a man was driving a pickup truck southbound on North Oracle Road, south of West Ina Road. Juan Figueroa, 46, was crossing the street and was not in a crosswalk, according to Quentin Mehr, spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The driver was unable stop and struck Figueroa. He was taken to a hospital and died from his injuries, Mehr said.

The driver remained at the scene.

No further information has been released.
