2016 election: Congressional District 2

Democrat Matt Heinz and incumbent Republican Rep. Martha McSally.

Rep. Martha McSally continues to dominate fundraising in the Congressional District 2 race, campaign finance statements show.

The Republican incumbent raised $991,079 in the last three months for her re-election campaign.

Additionally, a super PAC dedicated exclusively to preserving and expanding the Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives has started running attack ads against her Democratic opponent, Matt Heinz. The Congressional Leadership Fund is expected to spend $700,000 this month in the race.

McSally still had nearly $2.1 million in the bank at the end of the September, filings with the Federal Election Commission show.

The figures are still relatively small, since one estimate suggests a total of $20 million was spent in the district race two years ago.

Meanwhile, Heinz has raised $375,999 between the beginning of July and the end of September. Heinz, a physician, had $203,386 left to spend in his campaign .

O’Halleran outspent Babeu to travel around the state campaigning.
