Eric Alvarez

A Tucson man has been convicted of seven felony counts related to sexually abusing a minor, authorities said.

On Thursday, a Pima County Superior Court jury found Eric Alvarez guilty of one count of continuous sexual abuse of a minor, three counts of sexual conduct with a minor under 15-years-old and three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor under 15-years-old, according to a news release from the Pima County Attorney's Office.

During a seven-year period, Alvarez continuously molested a young female family member, and filmed the abuse, the release said.

Police found evidence on his computer hard drive and on the SD card of his cell phone, according to the release.

During a nationwide child pornography investigation, it was learned that someone in Pima County was trading child pornography, leading to the discovery of Alvarez, once his computer was linked to the trades.

A forensic analysis of his computer hard drives revealed more than 100 child pornography videos, in addition to his own victim, the release said.
