A woman was transported to the hospital in stable condition early Friday, after crashing her car into a wall on Thornydale Road.

A woman was taken to the hospital early Friday, after she crashed her car into a wall and had to be extricated from the vehicle, authorities said.

Northwest Fire District responded to a 911 call for a car that had crashed into a wall on North Thornydale Road, Capt. Brian Keeley, a department spokesman, said in a news release.

The cross street where the crash occurred wasn't immediately available.

The first crew to arrive at the scene found a two vehicle crash that resulted in one of the vehicles hitting a wall, Keeley said.

Because of the damage to the car that had crashed into the wall, firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to remove the driver, who was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, Keeley said.

She was the only person in that vehicle.

The driver, and only occupant, of the second vehicle reported no injuries, Keeley said.

Pima County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation into the cause of the crash.
