A Tuesday evening collision in midtown Tucson resulted in the death of a 52-year-old man, police said Saturday.

Garry Frazer attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of the 3700 block of East Broadway, west of South Alvernon Way near El Con Mall, police said in a news release. He was struck by a 2021 grey Toyota RAV4.

Police said Frazer was not in a marked or unmarked crosswalk at the time. He was taken to Banner Medical Center, where he died Thursday, officials said.

The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately and cooperated with authorities, police said.

“Mid-block” crossing by Frazer was the major contributing factor in the collision, according to police.

Frazer’s death is the 18th pedestrian fatality and 63rd death in a traffic collision this year, the Tucson Police Department said.

There were 29 pedestrian deaths in Tucson collisions for the year at this time in 2022.
