The Pima County Sheriff's Department released the name of a deputy involved in the fatal shooting of a man who was a suspect in the slaying of his sister, authorities said.
Deputy Nathan Meeboer fatally shot Chancy Chamblee, 55, last week at a residence in the 8800 block of South Alice Vail Lane after responding to reports of an unknown problem, authorities said. Meeboer was hired by the department 2½ years ago.
Just before midnight July 13, deputies went to the residence near South Sandario Road and Arizona Highway 86, for reports of an unknown problem, said Deputy Ryan Inglett, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.
The woman who called 911, 56-year-old Brenda Doucette, told operators that her brother, Chancy Chamblee, broke into her home through a window and had a gun, Inglett said.
Upon arriving, deputies made contact with Chamblee, who was inside the house.
"During that initial contact a deputy fired at Mr. Chamblee, fatally wounding him," Inglett said.
After entering the residence, deputies found Doucette deceased and with obvious signs of trauma.
No further information was released by sheriff's officials.
A public records request was filed July 19.
