What: Benβs Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is βbelled.β
Last weekβs recipient: Tyler Woods.
Nominated by: Judith Schwartz.
Why: For her efforts helping others deal with grief and loss due to suicide. Woods was instrumental in helping to start a support group and nonprofit, Survivors of Suicide, more than 20 years ago. She has been involved in suicide-prevention efforts through teaching and advocating. After 20 years, Woods has stepped down from her duties with Survivors of Suicide, Schwartz wrote in her nomination letter. βTylerβs devotion to helping others deal with this type of grief has positively impacted the lives of so many in our Tucson community,β Schwartz wrote.
