Two people on a dirt bike were killed Monday night in a crash with an SUV in Midtown, Tucson police said.

About 10 p.m., Mickey Daniel Ortiz, 20, and E’Lyanha Nevaeh Valenzuela, 18, were riding a SSR Motorsports dirt bike near East 22nd Street and South Country Club Road when they collided with a Kia SUV making a left turn in front of them, police said Wednesday in a news release.

The SUV's driver was not injured.

Neither Ortiz nor Valenzuela was wearing a helmet and investigators said the dirt bike lacked a working headlamp, police said. It was not known who was driving the dirt bike.

Investigators are trying to determine the color of the traffic signals at the time of the crash, the release said.

The crash still is being investigated.
