A deputy serving an arrest Sunday night shot and wounded a man during a foot chase, authorities say.
The incident started about 11 p.m. when the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Investigative Unit tried to serve an arrest warrant in 8500 block of North Joplin Lane, near Interstate 10 and Cortaro Farms Road, the department said in a news release.
Two people were wanted in connection with an armed robbery investigation, the release said.
The man and a female companion tried to run away through a hotel where they were believed to be staying. The man, armed with a handgun, was shot during the chase, the release said.
The unidentified man was taken to the hospital with "non-life-threatening injuries." The unidentified woman was taken into custody and is facing multiple felony charges, the release said.
No one else was wounded.
The Pima Regional Critical Incident Team, the multi-agency group that investigates local officer-involved shootings, was activated.
