A former executive at the Country Club of Green Valley has been arrested on suspicion of fraud, authorities say.
Edward Bittle, 51, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of defrauding the club on nearly $80,000, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.
Bittle was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of theft, forgery and fraud, the release said.
The investigation began in February when new club board members told the department members discovered multiple accounting discrepancies, including checks written to Bittle from the club’s account and unauthorized wire transfers, the release said.
Bittle started working at the club in 2004. He served as a general manager from January 2021 until he resigned in January 2025, the release said.
In his most recent role, Bittle was responsible for payroll and daily business operations.
