Tucson police are investigating a fatal collision Thursday of a pedestrian and a train, a spokesman says.
A man was struck shortly before 4:40 p.m. and pronounced dead when police arrived to theΒ 900 block of North Van Alstine Street.
The man was not at an intersection or railroad crossing when hit, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson police spokesman.
Motorists were asked to avoid North Main Avenue from West Speedway to West St. Mary's Road, and West Fifth and West Sixth streets from North Stone Avenue to Main Avenue.
The roads were reopened for traffic by 7:30 p.m., Dugan said in a tweet.
No further information was immediately available.
