A Tucson man was bitten by a coatimundi Wednesday in Sahuarita, game officials say.

“He and others reportedly fed coatis there regularly,” the Arizona Game and Fish Department said in a social media post Thursday.

“The man was treated for rabies, released. Coati are predators; never feed or approach them.”

The bite occurred in the 23000 block of Santa Rita Road.

“Report illegal wildlife feeding: 800-352-0700,” the department says.

Watch Now: A coati caught at a historic mansion downtown is released back into the desert outside Tucson.
