Police and fire crews were called to a Bisbee home Friday, when the owner found what appeared to be an unexploded ordnance in the garage.

A Bisbee man got more than he bargained for in his newly-purchased home, when he found an unexploded ordinance in the garage Friday.

Bisbee police officers, fire crews and a Cochise County Sheriff's Office bomb technician went to the home, located in the 800 block of Pace Avenue, and learned that the new homeowner found the ordnance while moving items into the corner of the garage, said Carol Capas, a Cochise County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

Police and fire units moved it suspicious item into a covered culvert, and the bomb tech identified it as an armor piercing round with a spotting charge that had already been fired, Capas said.

Anyone who finds anything that looks like any type of munition should always contact a local public safety agency and not touch the item, Capas said.
