Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Southeast Arizona: Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Southeast Arizona was honored as a recipient of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Associationβs inaugural AzHHA Patient Safety and Quality Award. Cornerstone was recognized for its process improvements that have reduced the number of unplanned acute transfers of patients to other facilities. Cornerstone was one of eight hospitals or health systems honored statewide.
Arizona Commerce Authority: The Arizona Commerce Authority announced the 15 finalists that have been selected for the 2023 Arizona Innovation Challenge. The finalists will advance to the final round of the competition, after which judges will select up to 10 companies as winners. The challenge is designed to advance innovation and technology commercialization opportunities in Arizona by helping early-stage ventures scale. The Tucson-area finalists include: BioBolt Medical; Macula Vision Systems; Nobel Works Corp.; and PathogenDx.
University of Arizona: The University of Arizona has been recognized as one of the most environmentally conscious schools in the nation in The Princeton Reviewβs 2024 Guide to Green Colleges. At No. 50, it is the first time the UA has been included among the Top 50 Green Colleges, which recognizes schools that βmake the most exceptional commitments to sustainability from academics and career prep to campus clubs and initiatives.β
Vero Amore: Discover Marana has named Vero Amore β Dove Mountain the winner of the Taste of Marana Standout Restaurant Award. The award recognizes nominated local restaurants that offer exceptional food, service and community involvement. The family-owned and operated restaurant and has been a staple of the community for 15 years. Vero Amore is owned by local restaurant group, JAM Culinary Concepts, founded by Tucson brothers Aric and Joshua Mussman and their mom, Suzanne Kaiser. The Vero Amore team has donated to local nonprofits like the Ronald McDonald House, Humane Society of Southern Arizona and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, as well as many schools and athletic programs in Marana, and the annual Rockin 4 Heroes event honoring first responders, veterans and active duty servicemembers.
