A Taiwanese manufacturer serving the semiconductor industry is entering the U.S. market via Tucson.

Jiann Sheng Machinery & Electrical Co. (JSEDM) will join the University of Arizona Center for Innovation under the scope of Tech Park Arizona

The company specializes in manufacturing wire cut and diamond wire saw technologies used in industries such as optics, aerospace, semiconductors, defense and precision manufacturing.

Beginning in March, the company will join the center’s virtual program and gain access to the expansive digital resource hub.

“The goal is to have our machines at Tech Parks Arizona for both demonstration and test trials, allowing us to introduce new cutting solutions to the Arizona market,” said Tsung-Hsun "Tony" Yang, R&D Manager at JSEDM. “Joining UACI provides us with the guidance and regional insight needed to understand our customer base better and move closer to that goal.”

Under the cope of Tech Parks Arizona, the University of Arizona Center for Innovation is bringing a Taiwanese manufacturer to the Arizona market.

Pima County Economic Development is sponsoring the company’s first six months in the program.

“By investing early in companies like JSEDM, we’re strengthening Southern Arizona’s role in the global semiconductor supply chain and ensuring our region remains competitive, innovative, and well-positioned for long-term growth,” said Heath Vescovi-Chiordi, the county’s director of economic development.

The announcement is a result of a trade mission last fall led by the Arizona Commerce Authority and business leaders from across the state and included Pima County Economic Development, the University of Arizona and Tech Parks Arizona.

The tech park’s program has brought several international startups to Arizona.

“By combining tailored Soft Landings programming with the strength of our regional partners, UACI is proud to help bridge global innovation with regional opportunity,” said Casey Carrillo, executive director of the UA Center for Innovation. “We look forward to supporting JSEDM as they explore the U.S. market and build lasting roots in Arizona.”

JSDEM, based in Taichung City, Taiwan, has been in business for 40 years.
