On a quiet weekday morning, visitors to the Old Spanish Trail Marketplace stopped to snap pictures of the “coming soon” sign.
Daiso, a popular Japanese dollar store that opened its first Tucson location earlier this year, will open a second store at East 22nd Street and South Harrison Road.
The global chain will occupy the space formerly used by Dress Barn at 9650 E. 22nd St.
This summer, Daiso opened its first local store in the Ventana Village Shopping Center, 6884 E. Sunrise Drive, near Kolb Road.
The opening on Aug. 31 was met with long lines of eager shoppers for its variety of products, such as home décor, stationery, beauty products, toys and food.
No opening date has yet been announced for the second location, but the company is already hiring.
