Canyon Ranch: Tucson’s Canyon Ranch has received the highest hotel recognition from the Michelin Guide.

The Michelin Key selection highlighted hotels in the United States, Mexico and Canada that offer exceptional stays, unique hospitality concepts and high levels of service.

Hotels were selected based on anonymous stays or visits.

In all 412 hotels were recognized, awarding either one, two or three Michelin keys, with one key representing a β€œvery special stay,” two keys described as an exceptional stay and three keys being the highest honor for an extraordinary stay.

Canyon Ranch was one of just 10 North American hotels to earn three keys, five of which are in the U.S.

Other three-key properties in the United States can be found in Florida, Hawaii, Montana and Utah.

Michelin noted Canyon Ranch’s commitment to wellness and health, with advisors reaching out to guests ahead of their stays to organize fitness classes, medical assessments, coaching sessions, art lessons and spiritual wellness experiences, a news release said.

Three Mexican hotels earned three keys, along with two properties in Canada.

No other Tucson area hotels earned one, two or three keys, though properties in Sedona, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley landed one- and two-key spots on the list.

Ballet Tucson: Ballet Tucson was awarded $1.5 million through a matching grant from the Connie Hillman Family Foundation. The grant matched new and increased donations made by supporters to the company and school.

The funds will help Ballet Tucson expand its programming and performances, while engaging with the community through new local partnerships and education initiatives.

University of Arizona: The UA BIO5 Institute’s Kelle Hyland, program manager of outreach and engagement for the BIO5 Keys Research Internship Program, has been named the 2024 Michael A. Cusanovich Arizona Bioscience Educator of the Year by the Arizona Bioindustry Association.

The Keys program provides high school students from across the state with research experiences, equipping them with STEM skills.

Under Hyland’s guidance, the program has expanded its outreach; increased diversity and inclusivity; and secured additional funding to support more students each year.

Oro Valley and Marana: The towns of Oro Valley and Marana have been honored with the Governor’s Tourism Award for Best Tourism Partnership by the Arizona Office of Tourism.

The award recognizes their collaborative efforts in promoting northern Pima County as a cycling destination, particularly through sharing hosting duties for the Tucson Bicycle Classic and Project Echelon Grand Fondo Ride.

Peace of Mind Home Watch Services: Peace of Mind Home Watch Services has earned accreditation from the National Home Watch Association.

Home Watch is a visual inspection of a home or property, looking for obvious issues, while the occupants are away.
