Roseanna Gonzalez, center, with her Ben’s Bell.

What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”

Last week’s recipient: Roseanna Gonzalez.

Nominated by: Victor Hightower.

Why: For her volunteerism and work as a teacher. Gonzalez spends a lot of time volunteering for various organizations. She serves on the board of the Marshall House for Men and sponsors student-athletes at the University of Arizona as part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also a senior chaplain in the International Alliance of Chaplain Corps, and the NextGen Coordinator at 4Tucson, where she helps young adults. She even has her own nonprofit, “It’s A Beautiful Life,” through which she mentors teens.

Gonzalez also collects Thanksgiving food for needy families, has helped a young bride find a wedding gown, and a disabled elderly woman get her laundry cleaned. She has coached track and learned basketball so that her sons could have a YMCA team. “In short, Roseanna Gonzalez is Wonder Woman,” Hightower wrote.
