What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is β€œbelled.”

Last week’s recipient: Doug Koppinger.

Nominated by: Emmanuelle Fahey.

Why: For his dependable volunteerism. For the past six years, he has volunteered at the International Rescue Committee. β€œHe has maintained his role of Tuesday afternoon open house front desk administrator with near-perfect attendance,” Fahey wrote in her nomination letter. Koppinger has learned and remembered the names of hundreds of clients, managing the flow of non-English-speaking clientele in a small lobby setting with utmost professionalism and accuracy, Fahey wrote. β€œHis consistency and dependability, as reliable as the rising of the sun, assures that IRC clients will be served, every Tuesday, with utmost efficiency and timeliness,” she wrote.
