James Ochoa, 26, was arrested after an altercation with a Pima County Sheriff's deputy that led to shots being fired on Nov. 24.

A deputy sustained minor injuries during an officer-involved shooting Sunday afternoon west of Tucson, officials said.

Deputies were dispatched to the 6000 block of West Oklahoma Street around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of West Irvington Road and South Frank Avenue, west of West Ajo Way, Marissa Hernandez, spokeswoman for the Pima County Sheriff's Department said.Β 

There was a physical altercation between Deputy Jaqueline Deen and James Ochoa, 26, and then Deen shot her weapon, Hernandez said in a news release.Β 

Deen, a four-year veteran of the department, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital as a precaution, Hernandez said. She has since been released from the hospital and has been placed on administrative leave, which is department policy.Β 

Ochoa was not injured and was taken into custody. He is facing domestic violence related charges and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Irvington Road between Frank Avenue and Camino Verde was closed while deputies investigated the incident.Β 

There are no outstanding suspects.

The department is asking anyone with information to call 88-CRIME, an anonymous tipster line.Β
