A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following an investigation into the death of his elderly mother earlier this week, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department says.
The incident started about 6 p.m. Tuesday soon after medics with Rural Metro Fire Department on a medical call in the 8400 block of South Kolb Road called officers after finding Bonita Cheney, 83, dead, an agency news release said.
They said they found information leading them to believe Bonita Cheney had died under “suspicious circumstances,” the release said.
Derek Cheney was later arrested and booked into the Pima County jail. Bond was set at $75,000.
