A boy was shot and killed this weekend in midtown, Tucson police say.

The unidentified boy was found wounded and lying in the street about midnight July 6 after several calls about gunfire in the 5300 block of 5300 block of East 26th Street, police said in a news release.

The boy died at the scene, a neighborhood near East 22nd Street and South Craycroft Road.

No further details about the incident have been released by police.

The investigation continues.
