New details have been released in the investigation into the fatal police shooting of a man by Tucson police during a standoff in November on the city's east side.
The Nov. 23 incident started about 8 p.m. when police were called to a house in the 9000 block of East Cooper Street after a boy told 911 that his father threatened him with a gun, the Pima Regional Critical Incident Team says in a video update posted on YouTube.
The PRCIT is a multi-agency team that investigates local police shootings.
Two siblings — an 8 year old and a 4 year old — were safely removed from the house prior to the standoff near East Broadway and South Camino Seco.
Brett Jividen, 35, was shot and killed when police say he walked out the front door of the house and pointed a handgun toward police, the release says.
The Tucson police officers who fired their weapons were identified as Detective Steven Acavedo, a 20-year veteran; Officer Joseph Jensen, a 13-year veteran; Officer Chad Barker, an 11-year veteran; and Alexander Bianchi, an 8-year veteran.
The investigation continues.
