A 20-year-old driver and two passengers were killed Sunday night in a crash that occurred while street racing, Tucson police say.
A third passenger, an unidentified 19-year-old man, was hospitalized with critical injuries.
The crash happened about 7:15 p.m. when a black BMW 750 was speeding east on East Valencia Road and crashed into a silver Buick Envision that was turning left from westbound Valencia onto South County Club Road, police said in a news release.
The unidentified 55-year-old woman driving the Buick suffered minor injuries.
The BMW driver, Ashtyn Vandersloot, was killed along with passengers Antonio Olalde, 20, and Grace Hobbs, 18, police said.
Vandersloot was racing another vehicle at the time of the crash, police said in the release, citing physical and video evidence as well as witness statements.
Police are searching for the driver of the vehicle racing the BMW. No information about the second vehicle was provided Monday morning by police.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME, the anonymous tip line.
