A newly released facial reconstruction image could help identify a young woman whose body was found east of Tucson in 1979, officials say.

The woman, known only as Jane Tucson Doe 1979, was found on Nov. 1, 1979 in the Vail area, near Interstate 10 and South Sonoita Highway (Arizona 83). Authorities believe she was between 17 and 22 years old.

She'd been shot several times and was found on the side of the road wearing a sweater and blouse.

An image created by a forensic artist was released the week by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Through genetic genealogy analysis, investigators believe the young woman was of Honduran ancestry and may have had ties to Honduras, Nicaragua, or El Salvador.

She was about 5-feet 6-inches tall, weighed 116 pounds and had black hair which had been dyed reddish-brown about three months before her death, NCMEC said.

She also had dental restorations in one of her front teeth that had broken off.
