A 15 year old boy is facing three felony charges in connection with threats made Tuesday to schools in the Vail School District, officials say.
The unidentified teen was arrested on felony counts of interference with an educational institution. He was booked into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.
The incident started just after noon when threatening calls were made to Cienega High School, Empire High School and Desert Sky Middle School, the release said.
The calls resulted in evacuations and police sweeps of the schools.
The Sheriff's Department worked with Tucson police to identify the boy as a suspect, the release said.
The boy told investigators the threats were a joke, the release said.
