A driver has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and other felonies in connection with a rear-end crash last month that killed a 19-year-old man and injured several other people, Tucson police say.
Omar Arzac Duarte, 40, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder, five counts of aggravated assault and felony endangerment after meeting with investigators on Oct. 14, Tucson police said Tuesday in a news release.
He was booked into the Pima County jail on $1 million bond.
In the crash about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 28, Risten Lee Robinson was a passenger in a gray 2007 Chevrolet Silverado police have said was speeding south on the Interstate-10 frontage road when it rear-ended a white 2024 Kia Niro that had just turned on to the frontage road from West Silverlake Road.
The collision caused the pickup truck to spin and roll. Robinson, one of six people in the pickup truck, died later at the hospital and the other passengers had various levels of injures, police have said.
The unidentified Kia driver had minor injuries and her passenger was not injured, police have said.
