Nathan Aaron Peru

Authorities are searching for a 30-year-old Tucson man wanted in connection with an investigation into the death in March of his daughter, 4.

Nathan Aaron Peru is wanted on suspicion of sexual conduct with a minor and theft, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release Wednesday.

About 7:20 a.m. March 16, deputies were called to a house in the 4200 block of North Flowing Wells Road for a reported medical emergency involving the girl's possible drowning, the release said.

The girl was unresponsive and died at the scene despite life-saving efforts by deputies. The initial investigation revealed the child died under suspicious circumstances, the release said.

"Through the course of their investigation, detectives developed probable cause for the arrest of the child’s father, the release said. "Mr. Peru fled from law enforcement officers, stole a City of Tucson vehicle, and was able to avoid apprehension."

Peru remains a fugitive and is wanted on suspicion of two counts of sexual conduct with a minor and theft of means of transportation, the release said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-crime, the anonymous tip line.
