STK crime scene

A 23-year-old Douglas woman was arrested on suspicion of felony charges after police say she struck and killed her boyfriend while trying to drive off during a domestic dispute.

About 2 a.m. Sunday, Karen Molina called police saying she'd accidentally struck her boyfriend with her car, Douglas police said in a news release.

Alejandro Bernal, 37, was found in the street. He was not breathing and had an obvious head trauma, the release said.

The couple were in a domestic dispute that went from inside their residence to outside. At some point Molina tried to drive away. Bernal was fatally struck as he tried to get into the moving car, the release said.

Molina was booked into the Cochise County jail on suspicion of negligent homicide and aggravated assault related to domestic violence, the release said.

The investigation continues.
