Zacarius Pierre

A 53-year-old man was shot and killed in a road rage incident Saturday in Sierra Vista, authorities say.

About 4:05 p.m. Saturday, Zacarius Pierre, 37, made a U-turn, sped up and stopped in front of another vehicle, Sierra Vista police said in a social media post.

The aggressive maneuver lead to a rear-end crash between Pierre's Kia Soul and a Chevrolet Cruze, driven by 53-year-old William McCutchen, the release said.

Pierre then allegedly got out of the Kia and stood in front of the Chevrolet, refusing to let the driver leave. Pierre allegedly fired numerous shots at the Chevrolet after McCutchen backup up and tried to run away, the release said.

McCutchen was later found dead in the driver’s seat.

Pierre was booked into Cochise County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder, the release said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jessica Ferrel at (520) 452-7500.
