The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has launched a new tool they say will enhance the user experience for 911 callers.

A communication platform called Versaterm SPIDR Tech provides "pertinent information to a caller or crime victim through fully-automated follow-up messages," the department said in a news release.

The tool will be capable of sending texts as well as email messages in English and Spanish, according to the release.

The idea is to have an automated tool which can “acknowledge requests for service” as well as “provide some basic information” to the caller, the release says. It will also be able to notify callers of any delays in response.

The service informs victims of when an investigator has been assigned to their case, that person's contact information, the dates and times of reports, case numbers and arrests.
