Two Sierra Vista men accused of robbing and beating a man at gunpoint in the victim's home were arrested Friday, May 26.

Robert Bustamante, 23, and Israel Vasquez, 24, were taken into custody about three hours after the crime, said Sierra Vista Police Department officials in a news release.

Bustamante and Vasquez were booked into the Cochise County jail each on suspicion of aggravated robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, armed robbery and misconduct with weapons as a prohibited possessor, said authorities.

At about 3 a.m., police responded to a house in the 1500 block of East Busby Drive and learned that multiple people held and beat the victim for cash and personal property while one person pointed a gun at the victim, officials said.

Police conducted surveillance of a residence on South San Paulo Avenue in connection with the robbery and assault. A search warrant was obtained for the property and multiple people ran into the house and barricaded themselves inside, authorities said.

Police negotiators talked the people out of the house, and at about 6 a.m. Bustamante and Vasquez were arrested without further incident.

Investigators ask that anyone with information about others, who may have been involved in the crime, call Detective Sgt. Sean Brownson at 520-452-7500. Β Β
