Two people were arrested Wednesday morning in connection to an armed robbery of a Circle K on the city's north side. One of the suspects is under investigation in more than 15 additional cases, police said.

Jamar Roshaun Atkins, 33, and Melissa Rose Harmsen, 28, were taken into custody and booked into the Pima County jail, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

Atkins is facing armed robbery and a Department of Corrections parole violation. Harmsen is facing facilitation to commit armed robbery, Bay said.Β

Atkins photograph was recently released in connection to an armed robbery Aug. 21 at Circle K, 2750 N. Tucson Boulevard. That surveillance camera photograph led to a tip that eventually led to Atkins, said Bay.

Bay said detectives worked information and linked Atkins as a suspect in 15-plus armed robberies beginning in late July. Β Β

He was taken into custody at an apartment in the 3700 block of East Bellevue Street. Detectives also located and arrested Harmsen, Bay said.

In the Circle K robbery, police asked the public for help in identifying a man who entered the convenience store and asked the clerk for several packs of cigarettes, police said.

When the clerk rang up the purchase, the man said he had a gun and demanded money from the cash register. He left the store with the cigarettes and cash.

The man was described as Hispanic or African American. He was about 25 to 35 years old, and weighed between 150 to 170 pounds, said police.

The investigation is continuing and detectives ask that anyone with information call 88-CRIME, an anonymous tipster hotline.

In addition to police, the multi-agency Auto Theft Task Force and U.S. Marshals Service also worked the investigation.
