A body of a man was found near the Cañada del Oro Wash in Marana Wednesday morning by a person walking in the area.

The walker called 911 at about 11:30 a.m. to report the incident, said Sgt. Chris Warren, a Marana Police Department spokesman.

When officers arrived in the desert area, they found the body, which appeared to have been there for several days, Warren said.

The area is south of Target, which is located in a shopping center on the southwest corner of North Thornydale and West Ina roads.

Detectives were working to find the victim's identity.

It was not known if the man was homeless, said Warren.

An autopsy by the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death, Warren said.
