A man was sentenced to nearly four years in a stabbing of another man on the San Xavier District of the Tohono O'odham Nation.

On Tuesday, Lauterio Keanu Ace Valenzuela, 24, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jennifer G. Zippsto to 46 months in prison. Valenzuela had previously pleaded guilty to assault.

On Oct. 18, 2015, Valenzuela stabbed a man, also a member of the nation, after an argument, according to a news release. The man was stabbed several times in the arm and suffered a cut to an ear. The injuries were not life threatening.

Valenzuela was on federal supervision when he assaulted the man, and he fled after the incident. He was arrested two months later.

The Tohono O'odham Police Department and the FBI conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Raquel Arellano prosecuted the case.Β
