Errick Townsend

A Sierra Vista man is facing two felony drug charges, and police are also investigating a stabbing he reportedly committed, authorities said.

Errick Townsend, 40, was booked into the Cochise County jail on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, said authorities in a Sierra Vista Police Department news release Friday.

On Thursday morning, the stabbing victim while on his way to the Canyon Vista Medical Center, contacted a police officer and reported that he had been stabbed in the stomach.

The stabbing occurred near Judd Street and Busby Drive. Officers found the crime scene nearby in the 300 block of Sheila Lane. The scene was in front of Townsend's residence, said police.

During the investigation, detectives interviewed Townsend and served a search warrant at his home, which lead to the drug charges, police said.

Detectives continue to investigate the stabbing. No charges have been filed in that incident.
