WILLCOX β Two Willcox police officers shot and wounded a 69-year-old man after he fired at one of the officers, slightly wounding him, Cochise County authorities say.
The wounded Willcox man was hospitalized in Tucson for treatment of injuries that donβt appear to be life-threatening, the county Sheriffβs Office says.
His name wasnβt immediately released Friday.
The shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. Thursday outside a home where the suspect drove after police attempted to stop him for driving without headlights on, sheriffβs officials say.
The driver first pulled over and got out of his car, but then got back in and drove off, prompting a police pursuit that ended at the home.
The wounded officer was treated at a hospital after a bullet struck his ballistic vest and was deflected, authorities said.
