National board certification is an advanced teaching credential in which teachers have met the profession’s highest standards and have the knowledge and skills necessary to advance student learning.

Teachers receiving the honor from the Marana School District are Kelly McGarity from Marana Middle School and Sarah Ross from Marana High School.

Representing the Flowing Wells School District are Shay Warman from Centennial Elementary School, Karen Daly from Flowing Wells High School, Danielle Van Derlaske from Homer Davis Elementary School and Jessica Howell from Hendricks Elementary School.

Only about 3 percent of teachers nationwide are national board-certified.
