Tucson’s old-school hits radio station is collecting shoes for underprivileged students.
KTGV 106.3 The Groove wants to collect 1,000 shoes by Aug. 26. The station will donate the shoes to Tucson Unified School District’s family resource centers and Sunnyside’s Family Resource and Wellness Center.
To donate, drop off new or gently used shoes at the Scripps Media Office, 7280 E. Rosewood St., or any Supercuts location in Tucson.

University High student selected
for American Legion leader program
A University High School student has been chosen to participate in the American Legion’s Boys Nation program.
Jahaziel Felix, 17, will be a senator in the program, which includes civics training and leadership development, in Washington, D.C., from July 21 to 28. Two students from each state represent 49 states in the program and learn about the federal government.
Former President Bill Clinton, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito are alumni of the program.
Imago Dei enrolling 20 students
to join its fifth-grade class
Imago Dei Middle School, 55 N. Sixth Ave., is enrolling for its fifth-grade class, but space is limited to 20 students.
The private school is open only to students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch. All students receive free school supplies, uniform shirts, field trips and more.
