The manufacturing program at Desert View High School won an award.

The Arizona School Boards Association recognized the school's excellence in career and technical education by awarding the Golden Bell Promise Award.

The Joint Technical Education District program at Desert View was also accredited by the National Institute of Metalworking Skills.

Kathy Prather, Sunnyside schools' career and technical education director, said 85 percent of students who graduate from the program have completed their postsecondary certificates or degrees at Pima Community College.
