An 11-year-old student at Leman Academy School of Excellence has been arrested on suspicion of threatening another student, Marana police say.

Details are sparse, but police say the investigation started Monday evening when they received a report about a student threatening a classmate. The threat could not be verified Monday night, but the boy was arrested Tuesday after the probe continues Tuesday, the police said in a news release.

The boy faces one count of disruption of an educational institution.

There is not threat to the school at 7720 N. Silverbell Road, the release said.

"The Marana Police Department encourages families to speak with their children about the dangers of making threatening comments or statements," the release said. "Students and parents are encouraged to report concerning statements or comments to the police or school authorities."

The non-emergency line for the Marana Police Department is 520-382-200
