Danelle B. Liwski has been appointed as a Pima County Superior Court judge in Tucson.

The appointment was announced Friday by Gov. Jan Brewer.

It fills the vacancy created by the Jan. 28 retirement of Judge Charles Sabalos.

Liwski had been a juvenile hearing officer for the Pima County Superior Court since 2003.

Prior to that, Liwski worked as a prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney's Office and Pima County Attorney's Office from 1991 to 2003.

She earned her law degree from the University of Arizona in 1990.
