Downtown Tucsonβs South Church Avenue will be closed between West Broadway and West Ochoa Street to all traffic, bicycles and pedestrians this weekend while crews demolish a pedestrian bridge that connected a parking garage and La Placita Village.
Crews began demolishing the pedestrian bridge early Friday. The closure is in effect through 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6.
Patrons attending events at the Tucson Convention Center this weekend should use South Granada Avenue or West Cushing Street to get to the venue.
The brightly colored La Placita complex is being demolished to make way for apartments and retail businesses.
