A man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing a couple in a gruesome two-vehicle crash more than two years ago.
Alexander Bondy, 23, was convicted in June of two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the crash on Aug. 11, 2016.
That afternoon, Bondy was traveling 90 miles per hour along Golf Links Road when he lost control, went airborne and crashed head-on into a car.
The occupants, Joel W. Cohen 76, and Mary Jane Cohen, 77, were killed in "gruesome fashion" authorities said.
Police determined Bondy struck a median before going airborne into the Cohen's vehicle.
Bondy would later admit to taking prescription migraine medication prescribed to his father. A blood sample confirmed the drugs were in his system.
He was also convicted of endangerment, criminal damage and a DUI, according to the Pima County Attorney's Office in June.
