A motorcyclist died Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in north Tucson, officials said.Β

William S. Woodin, 47, died at Banner University Medical Center where he was transported with life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car, the Tucson Police Department said in a news release.Β

Just after 2:30 p.m., officers responded to East Glenn Street and North Treat Avenue for reports of a serious-injury collision.Β

The driver of a 2003 Toyota Echo was traveling southbound on Treat Avenue and stopped at the stop sign before crossing the intersection, police said. While crossing the intersection, the driver collided with Woodin's 2008 Suzuki XR1 who was traveling westbound onΒ  Glenn Street.Β

Glenn Street does not have a stop sign at Treat Avenue. Witnesses told police Woodin, who was not wearing a helmet, was riding recklessly before the crash.

The driver of the Toyota remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. A DUI officer determined the driver was not impaired.Β

Speed appears to be a factor in the crash, based on roadway evidence and interviews, police said.Β

The investigation is ongoing and no charges or citations have been issued at this time, the department said.
