Northwest Fire District rescued a hiker from Sanctuary Cove Saturday morning, after the woman suffered a medical emergency, officials said.

The 911 call came in shortly before 11:30 a.m., regarding the woman who was hiking near Sombrero Peak about a half-mile away from the trailhead, said Capt. Brian Keeley, a department spokesman.

Northwest fire's Technical Rescue Team hiked up the trail and began treating the woman before carrying her down the trail on a portable stretcher, Keeley said.

The team reached the base of the trail at 12:30 p.m., and the woman was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
