The Pima Animal Care Center has reduced adoption fees for potential pet owners in preparations for an influx of animals that may arrive next week.
PACC has lowered the price to $4 for all pets, including puppies and kittens, a press release said. This will help to make room for strays that may run away due to fireworks on July 4.
Last year, the shelter took in nearly 170 stray pets but only 26 were claimed by owners.
The special runs from July 1 to July 8. Pets will come spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and with a vet visit, the release said.
Adopters can look for a new pet at the shelter from noon to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. PACC will open July 4 for adoptions from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Future owners can also check out the pets regularly featured on PACC's Facebook and Instagram pages.
