Sheriff's deputies are searching for a male suspect in an armed robbery of a Circle K on Tucson's south side March 21.

Deputies responded to the store at 9810 South Nogales Highway around 8:30 p.m. for a report of a robbery. They learned the male suspect had entered the business and went up to the counter to purchase an item.

He then pulled out a gun, fired one round into the ceiling and demanded money from a clerk. After receiving the money, the suspect left in a dark colored vehicle but the make and model is not known, the department said in a news release.

A store clerk told detectives the suspect was in the store hours earlier and shoplifted cigarettes.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male around 20 to 30 years old, short brown hair, small build and light facial hair. He was last seen wearing an Arizona Diamondbacks hat, a white long sleeved dress shirt and black pants.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 9-1-1. The 88-CRIME anonymous tipster line can also be contacted.
