A 25-year-old male died after being struck by truck on Tucson's southwest side Saturday morning, according to the Tucson Police Department.

Officers arrived just after 3 a.m. for reports of a serious-injury collision and found an unresponsive adult male in the roadway of West Valencia Road, west of South Santa Clara Avenue. A woman was at the scene performing CPR before Tucson fire paramedics too over.

The man was transported to Banner-University Medical Center but succumbed to his life-threatening injuries. Police identified him as Moises Virgen.

Police detectives learned Virgen, in dark clothing, was not in a crosswalk when the driver of a blue 2012 Chevy Silverado hit him. The driver stayed at the scene and called emergency personnel.ย

While the investigation is ongoing, it does not appear speed or impairment appears to be a factor in the fatal collision, a department news release said.
